Influence of SiC and TiO2 Nanoparticles on the Dielectric and Thermal Properties of Natural Ester Based Nanofluids

In this work, semi-conducting TiO
2
and SiC nanoparticles in the same weight percentage ratios (0.004 and 0.008% w/w) are added into appropriate natural ester oil FR3™ volumes. In terms of the thermal properties, thermal diffusivity and thermal conductivity are determined in a wide temperature range, while as regards to the dielectric ones, relative permittivity, dissipation factor and electrical conductivity are both studied for the nanofluid and base oil samples in the range from 1 to 10
⁶
Hz. The processing of the results proves that the nanofluid filled with SiC nanoparticles at 0.004% w/w possesses the most enhanced dielectric and thermal properties with respect to the base oil, while the addition of both kinds of nanoparticles can cause a decrease of the dissipation factor.
