System Reduction Using Continued Fraction Method to Allow Retention of Dominant Modes

In this paper, a new method to reduce the order of the transfer function of large-scale linear dynamic systems is proposed. For a given complex system, the denominator equation of the simplified plant is accomplished by retaining the dominant eigen values of the actual plant, while the numerator polynomial is evaluated by using modified Cauer continued fraction (MCCF) method. The abated model obtained by the anticipated method pledges the safeguarding of the static and dynamic responses of the real higher order systems. For a stable large-scale system, the simplified process evaluated by the recommended algorithm is always stable. The proposed abated system is not only preserving the fundamental features actual process but also giving the smallest error indices as compared to some typical as well as recently proposed methods. The accuracy and superiority of the proposed algorithm are shown by implementing on a real time flexible-missile control system.
