Thermal comfort in wooden buildings in Mediterranean area. A field study

Wood in building constructions has recently gained attention because it is considered a more sustainable material. Nevertheless, it has been mostly used in cold climates. This study presents a field experimental investigation of the thermal behavior of a prototype wooded building that is the result of a research project aiming at producing advancement in the development of residential settlement models. The building is located in a Mediterranean climate with hot summer and was equipped with a complete monitoring and data acquisition system to perform an experimental campaign in the summer 2021. The aim of the study was to assess the thermal performance of the demonstrator in crucial hot climatic conditions with particular attention to the thermal comfort achievable.
