A Modified Wideband Hexagonal Shaped Antenna for Wireless Applications

For various wireless applications, a modified hexagonal-shaped antenna is presented in this paper. A Substrate with a thickness of 0.508 mm of Rogers RT Duroid material and a dielectric constant of 2.2 is used for the antenna design. This antenna radiates at different frequencies with enhanced bandwidth from 1.5-3.8GHz and 9.63-9.99GHz. Depending on the part such as Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access (WiMAX), Wireless Local Area Networks (WLAN), and personal communication services (PCS) the resonant frequencies are chosen as 9.9GHz, 9.7GHz, 3.6GHz,2.4GHz,1.9GHz, and 1.8GHz. It is also applicable to X band applications. The Modified Hexagonal antenna shows high gain characteristics from 8.3dB to 14.6dB. Multiple types of radiation patterns are observed at different frequencies.
