An Analysis of Label Distribution Protocol (LDP) Deficiencies

MPLS (Multi-protocol label switching) is the technology of choice for most service provider networks. LDP (Label distribution protocol) is the commonly used protocol for label distribution in such networks. In this paper, we analyse LDP for its protocol deficiencies. The consequences of these identified deficiencies range from possible sources of security attacks to inter-operability issues.
