Digital FIR bandpass and bandstop filters design using ALO

This research work considers Ant Lion Optimization (ALO) technique for the design of FIR type bandpass and bandstop filters (BPF and BSF) of order 20. The ALO mainly depends on the interaction between ants and antlions. Mainly five steps have been implemented in the hunting mechanism of antlions. These comprise of random movement of ants, construction of the traps, capturing of ants in the hole of the antlion, sliding of ants towards the center of the trap, capturing the prey and reconstructing the hole. From the comparative study of different performance metrics for the designed filters based on ALO and others namely, GSA, CSO, OHS and ACSA, the performance supremacy has been observed for ALO-based designed filters.
