Modelling and Simulation of UPFC to Improve Power Quality

UPFC is an absolutely power transmission controller. It controls the inner parameter li impedance, especially in line, voltage, phase angle. It comes under the FACT (flexible AC transmission system) whose main aim is to enhance line throughput and regulate power flow across a specific transmission system. FACTS devices it may meet most of the voltage and reactive power management goals necessary for transmissions & networks. Mostly, in transmission lines FACTS devices are used to improve the power quality is present. UPFC is the most important among FACTS devices which is used in desired phase for series voltage infusion. In a high voltage transmission line, UPFC has an electrical device that provides quick-acting reactive power adjustment. To make an UPFC model a single DC connection will joined through a STATCOM and SSC together to make an equivalent model. In this research, we used MATLAB/Simulation to model the UPFC and manage the flow of power in a transmission network.
