A Metamaterial Absorber with Ultrathin and Flexible Feature for Microwave Applications

A flexible metamaterial (MM) absorber, that operates in the C- and X-band frequency ranges, is reported in this study. The reflection coefficient and absorptivity responses of the proposed MM absorber is analyzed under a variety of incidence angles for transverse electric (TE) polarization. DuPont Pyralux AP9161R material, which contains Kapton polyimide dielectric, is used in the design process. It is observed in the simulation results that when the proposed absorber is bent, it maintains its high absorption characteristic at a wider frequency range in comparison t its planar form. A minimum absorption rate of 99.1% is obtained for both planar and bent absorbers at different angles of incidence
