High-Sensitivity Sensor Based on Energy Transfer

A high-sensitivity sensing structure based on energy transfer caused by long-range surface plasmon resonance of the prism is proposed. This model achieves very high sensitivity by trapping evanescent waves in the sensing medium. With the help of COMSOL, the performance parameters of this model under angle modulation and wavelength modulation are demonstrated through finite element analysis. The angle modulation achieves an average sensitivity of 56°/RIU with a minimum full width at half maximum of 0.016° and a highest quality factor of 3500 RIU

in the refractive index range of 1.333-1.358. At the same time, the average sensitivity of 57500 nm/RIU is achieved under wavelength modulation in the refractive index range of 1.3330-1.3340.
