The Influence of Lateral Waves on the Radio Technical Characteristics of a Rectangular Waveguide with Thermal Protection

Equations are obtained to account for the effect of lateral waves on the radio technical characteristics of a rectangular waveguide through a homogeneous radar-transparent heat-resistant thermal protection. The article describes that the contribution of lateral waves to the radiation field is determined by numerical integration along the banks of sections covering the branching points. The paper presents the expressions of the radiation field of the onboard antenna in the form of an open end of a rectangular waveguide with dielectric slab. The calculation was carried out in order to influence the eventuality of changes in thickness and electric parameters of dielectric slab on the power of lateral waves. The contribution of lateral waves to energy losses in the thermal protection of a rectangular waveguide is estimated.
