Load frequency control of a photovoltaic-biogas-bio biodiesel-battery based micro-grid system

This paper attempts to study the control of load frequency in a microgrid system which includes renewable energy units such as solar photovoltaic, biogas and biodiesel generators including battery storage. Synchronization between the generation and load demand of the renewable energy based microgrid is the main problem faced because of the unpredictable and nature dependent of these renewable resources. The frequency responses of the system are studied under different real-world scenarios of renewable source availabilities and load variations. A new and an innovative Mine blasting algorithm (MBA) is used for optimization of the controller gain values. The frequency responses of the microgrid with Proportional–integral–derivative (PID) controller with MBA technique are found to be acceptable and are reported in the work.
