Fractional Order based on the Flower Pollination Algorithm PID controller for Community Microgrids

This paper presents a Fractional Order based on the Flower Pollination Algorithm (FPA) PID controller for Microgrids. The structure for the community microgrid consists of the Micro-Turbine (MT), Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), Flywheel Energy Storage System (FESS), Wind Turbine Generator (WTG), and Solar Photovoltaic (SPV) systems. Everything is created under conditions of highly reliable; because whenever there is a renewable energy source that fails to feed the load demand. The primary thermal power station system will serve as a cushion to deliver load balancing again, with the BESS and FESS providing short-term backup power to achieve the dynamic stability of the system. In addition, BESS can be both in charging mode or discharging mode according to the system frequency. The proposed Fractional Order PID (FOPID) controller is connected to the diesel engine, generator, BESS, and FESS in each microgrid to minimize the frequency deviation effect with steady-state response speed. The simulation results show the efficiency of the FOPID controller by significant improvement of the time responses.
