Mathematical Dynamic Representation of the Energy Conversion System for DFIG Wind Turbines

In this paper, we study the control, operation and stability characteristics of Doubly-Fed Induction Generators Based Wind Turbines. In existent transmission grids, the inverter-based design has proven to be the most reliable and efficient topology due to its higher ability to supply reactive power into the grid which also signifies that it has a better tolerance limit of real power absorption which can result in voltage collapse. Nevertheless, there still exists limits and is also dependent on the design of the grid that the turbines are being integrated in. As such, mathematically modeling the system and control mechanism provides a means to better understand the system by translating it graphically into vector reference frames. As such, we then can observe the state space representation of the system to further observe the behaviour of the topology, stability margins, and use optimal theorems for more efficient control mechanisms and filter designs.
