A Compact Cavity-Backed Slot Self-Diplexing Antenna Based on HMSIW

In this paper, a novel cavity-backed slot self-diplexing antenna based on half-mode substrate integrated waveguide (HMSIW) is proposed for satellite and wireless communication systems. Two L-shaped slot radiators with different lengths are etched on the top surface of HMSIW cavity, which is fed by two individual 50 Ω microstrip lines. The proposed antenna resonates at 12.81 GHz and 13.88 GHz respectively, and the isolation between the two ports is better than 29dB, thus the self-diplexing characteristics is obtained. The simulated maximum gain of the antenna is 6.33 dBi and 7.62 dBi at two resonant frequencies respectively, and their cross polarization are both less than -20dB.
