Impact of Array Antenna Types on Heart Rate Monitoring Radar

Antennas, as the front-end device of wireless RF systems, influence system performance. The impact of gain, aperture efficiency, and polarization of array antennas on the measurement of heart rate with a radar sensor is assessed in this work. Results suggest the use of low gain linearly polarized array antenna at the transmitter and high gain linearly polarized or circularly polarized array antenna at the receiver for more accurate measurement of heart rate.
