Accurate visible light positioning system using neural network

Visible light indoor positioning has significant advantages, such as low cost, high durability, and environmental protection. In this paper, we investigate the use of artificial neural networks in an indoor positioning system based on visible light. The position of the receiver is estimated by a typical back propagation neural network, whose inputs are the powers of the lights received from several LEDs. Several experiments have been carried out to evaluate the performance of the proposed method, in terms of accuracy. The obtained results show that this method achieves a high accuracy positioning, with an average error of 0.7 cm at a quarter area (100 cm×100 cm ×160 cm) of the testing space.
