A Method for Planning R&D Activities Based on a Set of Models

This article discusses a method for planning R&D projects that bring engineering professionals' knowledge of the R&D arrangement and its peculiarities to bear on the challenges of planning new R&D projects. Reducing planning uncertainty is achieved by a set of models proposed. The knowledge of R&D arrangement and the company's intellectual capital encapsulated into the ontological model that provides estimates of several indicators of R&D. The simulation model uses indicators obtained with the R&D ontology for assessing time characteristics of R&D activities the feasibility of R&D deliverables. The article also presents examples of the models' work.
