Design Space Exploration of K-Demo Using Novel Method for the Minimum Build Determination

Under the framework of a conceptual design study for the Korean fusion demonstration reactor (K-DEMO), a scoping study for design space and cost assessment of the K-DEMO has been performed. A novel method was applied to determine the minimum major radius,

, and the resulting minimum reactor size, which lead to a reduced reactor cost. The impacts of a wide range of physics, technology, and system parameters on reactor size were addressed. With the design goals of a net electric power >500 MW and steady-state operation, a prospective design space according to the level of the physics and technology was drawn.
