Development of Virtual Multimeter in Determining Diode Characteristics Based on LabVIEW

In general, measuring electronic circuits can only use ordinary measuring tools or manually. But as technology develops, measuring electrical circuits does not only use manual tools but can already use LabVIEW software. A measuring instrument with a dc voltage sensor was developed using an Arduino and a dc current sensor using an INA219 sensor. This data is then processed into digital data by Arduino and then entered the measurement interface programmed with LabVIEW so that current and voltage values can be displayed both on DC and AC sources. To characterize the diode, a DC voltage and current reading test is carried out first. The DC voltage reading on the LabVIEW interface has an error of 3.3% or a reading accuracy of 96.67%, while the DC current reading has an error of 7.2% reading the measurement value or a reading accuracy of 92.78%. From this virtual multimeter, a diode characterization system was developed by applying a current and voltage measuring circuit when forward biased. The current and voltage measurement data are combined at the same time and then plotted on the interface. The display on the interface is compared with the same data but plotted using excel. The results of the diode characterization were carried out at room temperature of 25° C shows the built-in potential for a silicon diode of about 0.6 V and a germanium diode of 0.3 V.
