Analytical Form of the Scan Blindness Condition in an Infinite Phased Array of Printed Dipoles with a Superstrate

We use the exact form of the Green's function for a grounded dielectric slab with a superstrate to derive an approximate analytical expression for the propagation constant of the fundamental surface wave. The result is then used to obtain a closed-form formula for the scan blindness condition in an infinite phased array of printed dipoles with a superstrate. The analytical criterion of scan blindness is validated with a full-wave simulation of Maxwell's equations.
