Passive Location System as a combination of PCL and PET technologies

This paper presents the passive localization system (PLS), which consists of Passive Coherent Location (PCL) radar and Passive Electronic Support Measures Tracking (PET) sub-systems, which is currently developed in Poland. The system is dedicated to the detection of airborne targets in a covert way. A standard configuration of the system consists of four receiving stations, which exchange data for performing target localization and tracking. The PCL sub-system uses three types of illuminators of opportunity: FM radio, DVB-T television, and GSM cellular telephony. The PET sub-system can receive radar, IFF, navigation, and communication signals.
