The Accuracy of Determining the Phase During the Development of the Emergency Mode by the Piecewise Overlay Method

The speed of determining the phase of the periodic signal significantly affects the efficiency of automatic and relay protection systems and, consequently, the reliability of power supply to consumers. In this paper the method for estimating a phase of a harmonic signal by piecewise superposition with an sinusoidal dependence on time is proposed. The influence of the rate of increase in the amplitude of the periodic signal and the width of the data window on the accuracy of phase determination is investigated.
