Embedded Water Analyzer for Unmanned Surface Vehicles

One of the most important indicators of the ecological situation within populated localities is water quality in coastal zones. For timely inspection and detection of pollution in coastal waters, automated data collection systems are used. In the paper, we propose a low-cost portable lab for analyzing the quality of water built with commercially available components, demonstrate its architecture, and test its performance. The designed system is capable of measuring the following parameters: PH, total dissolved solids, turbidity, and temperature. The system was used to analyze water in various locations in St. Petersburg, Russia. The results of the study show that the values of all measured indicators in all places of water are within the established standards, which corresponds with available data from governmental sources.
