Toddler’s Hand Motion Acquisition with Hand-Made Data Glove

Supporting hand dexterity, which develops throughout infancy, by providing appropriate toys and other means is one of the central tasks for childcare workers. However, a method for easily collecting data on infants’ hand movements has not been established. To address this issue, we developed a downsized data glove for infants using a bending sensor, which is often used in data gloves for adults. We performed a preliminary experiment to acquire test data. Finally we discuss some issues that are unique to children.
