Design of a Cylindrical Dielectric Resonator Antenna for 5G Communications

This paper represents the design of cylindrical dielectric resonator antenna (CDRA) for the application in fifth generation (5G) communications. The CDRA uses the cross-slot aperture couple fed on a ground plane. The antenna bandwidth is 3.88 GHz and the calculated percentage impedance bandwidth is 14 %. The antenna is simulated using the software HFSS (High-Frequency Structured Simulator). The range of frequency is 26.34 GHz to 30.22 GHz, Which is in the spectrum band of mm wave (milli-meter wave). The antenna optimization is being configure using the parametric analysis method on the slot on the ground plane of antenna. The bandwidth of the simulated antenna is 3.44 GHz. The proposed antenna is having the application in latest milli-meter 5G wireless communications purpose.
