A Miniaturized Dual-Band ±45° Dual-Polarized Antenna Array for Millimeter-Wave Beam Scanning

A millimeter-wave compact dual-band ±45° dual-polarized antenna element is presented firstly. It consists of dual-ring patches in different sizes, four parasitic strips and two L-probes for ±45° dual-polarized feeding. The antenna element is operating from 24.22 to 30.5 GHz and from 36.82 to 45 GHz, which are completely covering n257~n261 frequency bands of 5G communication. Then a 1 × 4 antenna array has been investigated for beam scanning, working from 24.5 to 29.3 GHz and from 37.5 to 45 GHz. The simulated realized gain in broadside direction is 10 and 11.1 dBi at 27 and 39 GHz respectively. The main beam direction can achieve ±58° scanning at 27 GHz, while achieve ±32° scanning at 39 GHz.
