A Low-Profile Dual-Band Elliptical Patch Antenna Suitable For WIFI With Bandwidth

In this paper, a low profile broadband truncated Elliptic patch microstrip antenna (EPMA) is proposed with dual polarization and dual frequency band based on odd-mode eTM11 and even-mode oTM21. The working principle of the elliptic patch antenna working in eTM11 mode and oTM21 mode is introduced, and by truncating the patch antenna, the oTM21 mode of radiation is transformed from two ends to the broadside. Coupling the stub and slot radiator on the ground plane improved the defect of insufficient impedance bandwidth of the patch antenna. The measured results show that the fabricated antennas obtained the bandwidth of low frequency 2.38GHz-2.7GHz (fractional bandwidth 12.6%) and high frequency 5.1Ghz-5.56ghz (fractional bandwidth 8.6

) respectively, the presented antenna is a good candidate for IEEE802.11n (2.4GHZ - 2.48GHz and 5.15GHz - 5.35GHz). In low frequency band, radiation pattern is wide beam, which is suitable for WIFI communication with wide coverage indoor. In high frequency band, the proposed antenna has high gain, which is suitable for WIFI in narrow and long rooms.
