Modal analysis of a V-type engine crankshaft based on workbench

The crankshaft is an important part of the internal combustion engine, and its vibration characteristics have a direct impact on the operation of the internal combustion engine. The crankshaft model of a V-type 8-cylinder diesel engine was established by 3D modeling software SolidWorks. The effects of reciprocating inertia mass of piston group, connecting rod small end and rotating inertia mass of connecting rod big end on natural frequency and vibration mode of crankshaft are considered in modal analysis with Workbench. Adding concentrated mass to the journal surface of crankshaft connecting rod, the first 12 natural frequencies and vibration modes are obtained. Compared with the modal analysis without adding concentrated mass, the accuracy is improved, which provides a basis for further optimization of crankshaft structure.
