The Fuzzy Controller for a Boost Derived - Hybrid Converter

This paper proposes the design of fuzzy controller for a boost derived-hybrid converter (BDHC) to control the output voltage for DC loads and AC loads at the desired constant levels. From a single dc source, the BDHC can generate both dc and ac loads at a same time. The fuzzy controller is designed for the BDHC to obtain good performance in under transient and steady states. The proposed fuzzy controller is based on the investigation of converter behavior to generate the appropriate fuzzy rules. The output voltage error and the input current error are considered as the input membership functions and whereas the output membership function is the control signal. After the defuzzification, the control signal is used for pulse width modulation in order to provide the required switching signals for all four switches of the BDHC. Simulation results show the satisfactory performance of the proposed fuzzy controller for the regulation of the converter output voltage under various operating situations
