Reconfigurable Dual Band Microstrip Array Antenna

= 2.33 GHz and f2 = 14.86 GHz. In order to expand the number of operating frequency bands, the proposed geometry of the antenna array is based on standard antennas with identical rectangular slots at the patch. Varactor diodes are placed between the patch elements and the power line to provide reconfigurability in dual bands of operation. The commercially available HFSS EM solver has been used for the design and simulation purposes. The electrical control of the values of the integrated capacitors pushes the proposed antenna structure to operate at new resonant frequencies. Indeed, the operating frequencies of the antenna array vary continuously over a wide range ranging from 1.86 to 3.13 GHz and from 13.60 to 18.66 GHz.
