Increasing Efficiency of Single-phase PFC by Decreasing Dynamic Power Dissipation in Transistor

This paper shows the way of reducing dynamic power losses in single-phase power factor correctors (PFC) with different topologies of switching trajectory former (STF). The paper described the way of operation, advantages and disadvantages of the two types of STF; dissipative and non-dissipative. The objective of the article is to show switching diagrams of power MOSFET in classic PFC with STF and compare dynamic power dissipation in transistor. Analytical expressions for calculating the main components of the STF are given. PSpice simulation models are used to show the way of operation of STF, for power dissipation analysis and to verify the analytical results.
