Improved Simplified Model Predictive Controller Design for Unstable and Integrating delayed Processes

In this article, a Simple Model Predictive Control (SMPC) is proposed for the unstable and integrating delayed processes. The proposed SMPC controller algorithm is designed and derived by incorporating the Internal Model Control concept. The proposed algorithm shows significant performance improvement over the existing SMPC controller. Moreover, the IMC-based SMPC controller also improved the process performance with time delay. The tuning parameters of the proposed SMPC are optimized using the Genetic Algorithm. Improvement of the proposed controller is validated with the help of three MATLAB simulation examples of unstable, and integrating delayed processes.
