Study on the Operation of Left-turn Vehicles at Signalized Intersections Based on the Car-following model

Urban intersections are the bottleneck of the urban road network, and the traffic flow of turning vehicle is the key factor affecting the operation of intersections. This study seeks to bridge this critical gap from the following three aspects. First, we review potential left-turn intersections and traffic flow model. The proposed model integrates an improved optimal velocity model to improve the accuracy of the analysis. Second, we use the multi-intersection signal state function to describe the association between mixed left-turn signal and main signal, and use the curved road model to describe vehicles entering the exit lane for left-turn(EFL), in addition, we introduce the microscopic emission model to calculate the pollutant emission value. The third aspect focuses on simulation analysis of some parameters on the model, which demonstrates our model can describe the actual traffic flow operating state.
