Tri Band Wilkinson Power Combiner for NavIC Receiver

In this paper a compact tri-band Wilkinson Power combiner is proposed for NavIC receiver. This receiver operates at L1(1575.42 MHz) frequency band for GPS signal, L5(1176.45MHz) and S-Band (2492.028MHz) for IRNSS signals. The NavIC receiver is expected to receive RF signal with omni-directional coverage. To cater this two antenna element are mounted on outer surface of launch vehicle in diametrically opposite direction. RF Signals from two antenna elements are combined through a power combiner and fed to NavIC receiver. An equal-split Wilkinson power combiner is designed and fabricated. Designed power combiner meets the specifications at all three frequencies. Also the measured insertion losses are better than −3.3dB between the ports. Good amplitude & phase balance is obtained from the circuit. Realization aspects, simulated and measured results are discussed in this paper.
