Classifying Secondary Structure of Protein Using Big Data Techniques

Protein is an essential part of all the activities carried out in a living organism. Functions carried out by proteins are largely linked with their 3-Dimensional structures. Proteins initially exist as unfolded polypeptide (i.e., linear chain of amino acids translated from mRNA). These polypeptides lack a stable 3-Dimensional structure. When these chains are synthesized by ribosomes, they start folding into their 3-D structure. This paper aims at classifying the first stage of folding i.e., α-helix or β-sheet, which are related to the secondary structure of protein.
