A Slot Loaded Balanced Antipodal Vivaldi Antenna for Electronic Warfare Applications

This paper presents a strip line fed slot loaded balanced antipodal Vivaldi antenna for phased array systems, electronic warfare applications and ultra-wide band applications. The reported antenna with dimensions of
$56 \times 28 \times 1.6\ \text{mm}^{3}$
is analyzed, designed and simulated and found to be satisfactorily operating in the 5-20 GHz frequency band. Parametric studies have been performed to ensure that the antenna resonates in the desired frequency band. The return loss, radiation patterns in two principal planes and gain are simulated using Ansys HFSS 19.1 software. At 20 GHz, the reported antenna has a moderate gain of 8.0 dB.
