A Power Divider With Three Octave Bandwidths Based on Ridge Gap Waveguide Technology

In this paper, the design and measurement of a 6-18 GHz ultra-wideband power divider are presented. Different from conventional hollow waveguide or dielectric transmission line power dividers reported before, the proposed divider adopts the ridge gap waveguide (RGW) for its characters of low insertion loss, broadband, and easy fabrication. The proposed structure consists of a T-junction, a step impedance transformation section, and a pair of 90° RGW bends. In order to suppress the parasitic reactance caused by the discontinuity of transmission line, an inductive iris realized by is introduced at the base block of the RGW. A prototype of the power divider is fabricated and tested. The measured results demonstrate that the return loss of the power divider is better than 15 dB over 100% operating bandwidth.
