Comparative Performance Analysis of Single-Phase Grid-Connected Converters

This paper presents different topologies of $1-\Phi$ grid-connected converters. The transfer function model-based approach is proposed to control the dc-bus voltage with a reduced dc-link voltage ripple. The control method applied over a $1-\Phi$ grid-connected converter is reduced to an average model. The PI controller gains and the time constant of the voltage control loop are determined using the average model of the complete system. The stability of the complete system is evaluated using the root locus plot for different values of the time constant of the voltage control loop. The simulation results are presented to compare the performance of $1-\Phi$ full and half-bridge grid-connected converters. The control method adopted over the converter is verified through the experimental analysis. The control algorithm is executed on the TMS320F28379D DSP processor.
