Mutual Synchronization of Class E Oscillators

This work studies the operation of two Class E oscillators linked together through a phase-shifting network that enables mutual synchronization of the two oscillators initially characterized by different operating frequencies. Mutual synchronization is important for operation of oscillators that drive interrelated loads. In-phase and antiphase modes of operation were simulated and experimentally studied. A possibility to alter the synchronized operation frequency in a wide range by changing the phase-shifter components values was demonstrated. Improved frequency stability of the mutually synchronized oscillators was demonstrated. Synchronization in the 53-57 MHz frequency band was experimentally obtained.
