Mobile Location Management based on Reporting Cell Planning and Differential Evolution Approach

Due to the obvious developing size of cellular wireless communication networks, where the main challenge is improving capacity in order to serve exponentially growing mobile users in a restricted frequency bandwidth, location management has lately gained relevance. The main goal is to reduce the cost of mobile location management by maintaining a proper network configuration using a reporting cell planning (RCP) technique. This paper provides a Differential Evolution (DE)-based mobility management technique, where the total cost of location management is lowered by balancing location registration and location search costs. DE’s effectiveness and efficiency have been demonstrated through experimental simulations for the optimal design of diverse benchmark test networks. The trials’ numerical findings show that DE, due to its global search capability performs well in terms of convergence of cost function for RCP benchmark test networks of various sizes.
