A New Hypothesis of Insect Phototaxis Principle and its Application in Photoelectric Control of Agricultural and Forestry Pests

There are some defects in the existing hypotheses about the reasons for the phototaxis of nocturnal insects. This paper attempts to put forward a new hypothesis that nocturnal insects mainly identify the direction through the perception of light intensity gradient by their eyes, and fly at a specific angle with the gradient direction. The new hypothesis can reasonably explain the phototaxis of nocturnal insects and provide new inspiration for the photoelectric control technology of agricultural and forestry pests. Combined with the concept of biodiversity and the concept of pest ecological control, the new theory puts forward a new idea for the photoelectric control of agricultural and forestry pests, and inspired the design of a new photoelectric control lamp for pests. A newly designed pest control lamp, is equipped with LED light source, intelligent controlled secret chamber and auxiliary mechanism to trap and catch pests, which can not only avoid the disadvantages caused by spraying pesticides, but also protect natural enemies. This is beneficial to promote the development of physical agroforestry and ecological agroforestry. The research conclusion has reference significance for the sustainable development of agriculture and forestry.
