Beamforming Experiment of Time-Modulated Array Using Phase Shifter

Time-modulated array (TMA) has been investigated to achieve ultra-low side lobe pattern. We have proposed a time-modulated array using phase shifters. In this method, a desired pattern can be achieved in a time average procedure by temporally controlling of each element phase. It can be also used to compensate amplitude and phase excitation errors in phased arrays. In this paper, the effectiveness of the proposed method is confirmed by experiments using an active phased array.
