Analysis of Energy Storage Technologies Using Consumers Expectations

Several creative works in energy storage systems have resulted in novel developments in energy storage technology (EST). However, due to several consumer-related barriers, these systems have not been effectively utilised to offer consumers reliable and affordable energy. In this article, we present a new study EST adoption based on consumers' barriers. To synergistically connect selected consumers' barriers to selected EST, a multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) technique was applied. We collected data from energy specialists in Nigeria to evaluate the MCDM applicable. Based on the data analysis, we discovered that consumer protection and safety was the most significant barrier to EST adoption. However, equity was recognised as the least significant barrier to EST adoption. Electrochemical storage technology is the most appropriate technology for the case study; pumped-storage hydropower is the least appropriate technology. This article findings will assist renewable energy investors and government agencies to provide reliable and inexpensive energy will benefit from these discoveries.
