Soiling and Shading Analysis of Hybrid PV System for Rural Application using PVsyst Software

This study presents an innovative method to determine the feasibility of system using PV Syst software. The system is designed for 3 different applications like lighting, pumping and combination of both energy needs. The total energy requirement of a village with 17 houses is estimated to be of 13.84 kWh/day and water requirement of 30 m

per day. Compared to individual systems, Hybrid system results in a reduction of PV capacity of 1.32 kWp, 21.87% savings in total project cost with a payback period of 8.0 years. Soiling and shading analysis is also carried out with a variable step size of 5% to determine the system performance proving that compared to soiling, shading has a greater effect on PV power generation. Comparison of Hybrid PV system with different PV capacities for fixed axis and single axis tracking system is also performed to know its optimum PV capacity for the best performance and reduced payback period.
