Circular Arcs Loaded on Monopole Antenna for 5G Emerging and Ka - band Applications

This paper presents Circular Arcs Loaded on Monopole Antenna for 5G Emerging and Ka - band communications. The optimized dimensions of the offered antenna are 9mm x 10mm x 1.575mm on Rogers RT/Duroid 5880 substrate. The proposed antenna comprises of a semicircular arc etched on right and left sides of the radiating element to strengthen the impedance bandwidth (IBW). The frequency range of the proposed antenna is of 27.20 to 36.92GHz and the impedance bandwidth is 9.72GHz and the reflection coefficient is |Sn| is less than -10dB. The peak simulated gain of the antenna is 6.25dBi and the peak radiation efficiency of the proposed design is 92.08%. As the proposed antenna has a wide bandwidth (BW) and the high radiation efficiency (η), the antenna covers 5G & Ka- band applications. Ka -band is mainly used for the communication with satellite, the frequency is suitable for the uplink frequency for satellite communications and the frequency also has good performance for the 5G applications. The proposed antenna is depicted and simulated using the HFSS software.
