METAMATERIAL BASED GAIN ENHANCED FSW ANTENNA FOR 5G APPLICATION

With the rapid advancement of wireless commu-nication technology, there has been a surge in heed in reaching transmission at high data speeds and receipt of big multimedia files. The goal of achieving high data rates of up to Gbps has become a reality with the introduction of communication technologies such as 4G and 5G. Microstrip patch antennas have long piqued interest due to their low profile, low cost, and ease of production, as well as their ability to be embedded in other devices. This paper provides a sub-6 5G antenna for a 5G mobile application that resonates at 3.4 GHz. The proposed antenna size is 0.453λ x 0.566λ mm

which is printed on a 1.575 mm thick FR4-epoxy substrate with the dielectric constant of 4.4 and loss tangent of 0.02. The single element antenna has a reflection coefficient of -25.63 dB less than -10 dB in the frequency range of 3.33 to 3.48 GHz, according to the simulation findings. Gain enhancement is implemented using metasurface inspired superstrate. Here a Square Matrix (SM) metamaterial structure is proposed over the Four Slot Window (FSW) patch antenna (0.453λ x 0.566λ x 0.017λ mm

). Using the superstrate above the proposed antenna, a gain enhancement of 4 dBi is achieved.
