Sentence Learning System for Children with Dyslexia to Learn English As Second Language

Dyslexia is a learning disorder where children have problems with word recognition, phonological awareness and sentence reading skill. In India, most children learn English as a second language and use their native language as the learning medium and for communication. This even increases the difficultly, hence children with dyslexia need to learn English in a systematic way through multisensory instructions. Regular schools do not provide that facility and appointing a special educator is not possible for all. The proposed system has been designed to help children with dyslexia to learn to read English sentences slowly and systematically using multisensory instruction. It has a sentence display field, text-to-speech feature, speech recognition facility, writing facility and performance tracking facility. This system teaches lessons through four activities simultaneously, i.e., seeing, listening, speaking, and writing. It has a feedback mechanism to track the performance of a user and records it for future evaluation.
