Discrete Time Sliding Mode Control Tuning Based on Dynamics of System Model

In the recent development of robust and stable control system design, there are advanced control scheme are well established for the systems which involves parametric uncertainty, plant model mismatch, nonlinear dynamics and external disturbances. The robustness is the key issues for the system irrespective of its characteristics such as either having monotonic or oscillatory behavior, lower or higher order model and model with small or large delay time. Among the different robust control schemes, the sliding mode control (SMC) strategies have made more attention due to its advantages to different characterised systems. N ow a days, there are development of high computing processors, therefore the continuous SMC approach has been shifted towards area of discrete time sliding mode control (DTSMC) technique. The aim of this paper is two folds, first, a basic concept of DTSMC reaching laws and control strategies are included. Second, the method based on computation of DTMC tuning gains are obtained based on the dynamics of the system matrix with use of discrete linear quadratic regulator (DLQR) and the advances in the reaching laws, control laws with description are included. This paper also addresses the comparative study of prevalent DTSMC and modified laws and the simulation example is implemented to verify the effect of proposed method.
