Modular Distribution System for EV Parks

Very many papers on Electric Vehicle (EV) parks deal with the problems of the electric energy management and of the systems integrating in microgrids. Otherwise, this paper emphases the design of power system supplying many hundred cars in an electrified park such as for shopping centers or supermarkets. This paper suggests a distribution architecture that aims to design modularity for EV parks to enable an easier operation, maintenance and effective supervision and discuss of designing parameters. It deals with the design optimization that needs dedicated distribution topologies. This paper prospects the promotion of dedicated components in the next times, adequate to the specific service such as LV prefabricated busbars for the distribution of the recharging to the EVs and a review of the supplying wallboxes to convert in near ordinary sockets. Certainly, it is desirable that extended EV parks have to provide a friendly recharge, low cost, based on a "topping up charge" of the cars in the time of occupation of the parking space. The mobile EVs as all electrical components powered by plug sockets are not part of the electrical system; therefore, the charging protection can be transferred from the actual wallboxes and installed or available on each vehicle. This approach allows reducing sensitively the cost impact of wallboxes on the total cost of the power system and avoiding/limiting the problems of legal responsibility in cases of accidents in recharging processes; it will promote the extension of power parks to thousands of EVs.
