An Ultra-Wideband Resistively Loaded Modified Dipole for Ground Penetrating Radar

An ultra-wideband resistively loaded modified dipole (RLMD) with partly overlapping elliptical patch, complementary structure and short-ended structure is presented for ground-penetrating radar. Partly overlapping elliptical patch, complementary structure and short-ended structure are loaded on the traditional resistively loaded dipole (RLD) to decrease the reflection in the low frequency and increase the relativity bandwidth of the proposed antenna. The results simulated by CST Microwave Studio software show that the proposed antenna featuring significant wide bandwidth and moderate late-time ringing suppression is suited for GPR application.
